Mount Seymour Resort has unveiled a proposal to evolve from a local ski hill into a “premier mountain resort destination in Metro Vancouver”. The plan would more than triple skiable terrain, add year-around attractions (e.g. via ferrata, skywalk & suspension bridge, zip lines, gondola & more) and overnight accommodation. This development would expand the resort’s Controlled Recreation Area and have a significant impact on hikers, snowshoers and backcountry skiers in the area.
BC Parks is inviting public input through a survey. Please note that the deadline has been extended to 4 pm on July 24th, 2026.

I see that parking will be charged, prices will skyrocket and the low-key hiking available to all will be eliminated. There goes our wilderness. I don’t like it at all.
In my opinion this proposal is totally out of the scope of BC Parks mandate. It should not be allowed to happen
There seem to be positive aspects to the development particularly in the areas of the park that see limited use. But, I also have concerns for safe and free access to Pump Peak and beyond. If this goes ahead, hopefully our comments can steer things towards protecting access for all users.
This should not be allowed to happen.
