Do you know a backcountry hut that would benefit from free emergency food bars?

The FMCBC has partnered up with Peak4Ration to equip backcountry huts in British Columbia with long-shelf-life food bars at no cost!

Equipping backcountry huts with emergency food can make a real difference and be incredibly valuable if someone is unexpectedly stranded or delayed due to injury or extreme weather. Therefore, we are looking to get in touch with groups who operate huts in the BC backcountry, to help stock up their emergency reserve for the seasons to come!

If you know of a backcountry hut where this could make a real difference, please have them send us an email (info@mountainclubs.org) with the following information:

  • Name & Location of Hut
  • Approximate # of visitors/year
  • Contact person & email for delivery logistics

The emergency food bars are provided by Peak4Ration. Their products are compact, ready to eat, and have a 20-year shelf life, making them suitable for long-term emergency storage with virtually no maintenance.

Through this initiative, we are hoping to improve emergency preparedness in BC’s backcountry.

Please note that the FMCBC and Peak4Ration have the right to select huts most in need. Depending on interest and available stock, we may not be able to support every hut that requests this offer. DM us for more info!
