Each year, the Federation of Mountain Clubs of British Columbia (FMCBC) is proud to offer grant funding to help our member clubs pursue community-driven outdoor projects that advance backcountry access, environmental stewardship, and inclusive recreation.

We are thrilled to announce our 2026 FMCBC Grant Recipients! Each club has been awarded $1,000 to support their on-the-ground projects. Please join us in congratulating the following clubs and learning more about how they have an important impact on their local outdoor community!

Pacific Northwest Outdoor Association

Project: Annual Park and Shoreline Clean-up

The grant will support PNOA’s annual Park and Shoreline Clean-up Initative, by funding the purchase of cleaning & safety equipment, waste truck rental, transportation, and food & snacks for volunteers.

 


Project: Backcountry Skiing and Splitboarding Mentorship Program for Marginalized Genders

The grant funding will support essential avalanche safety and wilderness first aid training as part of their winter mentorship program, helping make backcountry education more financially accessible and inclusive.

Fridays Hike Club

Project: Land Stewardship/Coact Salish Workshop

The grant funding will support facilitation costs for a Talaysay workshop led by experienced Cultural Land Ambassadors, sharing Coast Salish teachings and promoting respectful and culturally appropriate hiking practices.

Rock On Collective

Project: Rock Climbing Mentorship Program

The grant funding will support subsidized skills-building courses led by certified rock climbing guides and social events as part of their rock climbing mentorship program, helping make rock climbing more financially accessible and inclusive.
