Federation members served as representatives to the National Hiking Trail Association from 1989 – 1990. The FMCBC has been a sponsor of the National Hiking Trail from Victoria to Crescent Spur, BC since 1997.
Hike BC has received permission from the City of Surrey to utilize their trails starting at the Peace Arch Visitors Centre. Hike BC will be erecting small National Hiking Trail Markers at key locations along the route from Peace Arch to Mud Day Park. Hike BC has requested the same permission from the cities of White Rock and Delta. This will be determined at the city council meetings of both cities on June 28, 2010. If successful, the National Hiking Trail will have its western terminus at Peace Arch and proceed to the Tsawwassen Ferry to continue onto Vancouver Island.
