The FMCBC is committed to advancing reconciliation and renewing the relationship with Indigenous peoples through respect, cooperation, and partnership.
FMCBC President Liz Bicknell attended a National Day of Truth and Reconciliation event at St Ann’s Academy in Victoria, presented by SNIWWOC (Support Network for Indigenous Women and Women of Colour). The acclaimed documentary “We Were Children” by Tim Wolochatiuk was shown. It’s told through the eyes of two residential school survivors. Two elders were there in person, Patrick Stephenson and Aldeen Mason. They shared their own painful experiences within the systems of removal.
