Whistler Heli-Skiing Avoidance Procedure

How backcountry travellers can reduce chances of conflict with heli-skiers: Whistler Heli-skiing has assured us that they try to avoid backcountry skiers. You can phone them (1-888-435-4754) or email them to let them know your trip plans in advance. They have indicated that if they do see backcountry skiers in an area, they will try to avoid them. Sea-to-Sky LRMP/Winter Recreation Zoning

Land and Resource Management Plans (LRMPs) provide strategic direction for the management of public lands and natural resources. The Sea-to-Sky LRMP was approved in April 2008. The full LRMP, maps and reports are available here. A small map titled "Winter Access" can be found on p.49 of the draft LRMP. It shows three areas zoned "Winter [...]

K’zuzalt/Twin Two Conservancy

This conservancy is located east of Pemberton, in the Twin Two drainage (Twin Two Creek drains into Lillooet Lake). The FMCBC submitted a letter with comments on the draft conservancy management plan. While most aspects of the plan are good, continued heli-skiing and heli-hiking in a wilderness area of the conservancy are inappropriate.
