Member Clubs

Our member clubs represent nearly every region in British Columbia. They act as contact points for local matters and together provide a united voice on issues related to non-motorized backcountry recreation in BC.

Central & Northern Interior

  • Barriere Outdoor Society – North Thompson
    The Barriere Outdoor Club (formerly the North Thompson Recreation Society) is a well-established nonprofit organization in Barriere within Simpcw First Nation territory with a mandate to provide recreational programs and opportunities without prejudice, in a welcoming, diverse and inclusive environment.
  • Barriere Trails Society – North Thompson
    Missioned to build new and connect trails in and around Barriere, BC.
  • Bulkley Backcountry Ski Society – Smithers
    Dedicated to promoting and preserving the love for backcountry skiing in the Bulkley Valley. We improve the quality of backcountry skiing experiences through infrastructure development, education, and advocating for the interests of backcountry users. Emphasizing responsible enjoyment of the outdoors, we foster a supportive environment for both newcomers and seasoned backcountry users.
  • Caledonia Ramblers – Prince George
    Caledonia Ramblers is a local hiking/snowshoeing club in Prince George, BC promoting responsible trail use and healthy respect for nature. We hike every week, mostly local day outings at different levels of difficulty.
  • Chetwynd Outdoors Society – Chetwynd
    The Chetwynd Outdoors Society is a volunteer-based organization located in the beautiful Northern Rocky Mountain foothills in Northeast BC. We focus on self-propelled outdoor activities with ain focus on hiking.
  • Fraser Headwaters AllianceDunster, Robson Valley
    The FHA is a registered charity with the mission “to maintain and restore ecosystem health and to support ecologically sustainable human communities and economies in the Fraser Headwaters bioregion.” We have established and maintain several trails in our area; the most prominent being the 42-km historic Goat River Trail.
  • Houston Hikers Society – Houston
    The HHS is a collective of dedicated community orientated people who take pride in the natural beauty of the area in which they live. We are devoted to promoting Houston and the surrounding area as a hiking destination for tourists, as well as promoting hiking as a form of recreation for locals.
  • Mount Remo Backcountry Society – Terrace
    Our society is dedicated to the advancement and promotion of the non-motorized back country access and activities. We have built and and maintain four exceptional backcountry cabins, creating a welcoming network for skiers, hikers, and mountaineers who share our love for the coastal range.
  • Ozalenka Alpine Club – McBride
    The OAC was formed to support and encourage non-motorized outdoor recreation in the Robson Valley, and to build trails and cabins for public enjoyment. We care for and schedule two alpine cabins, and maintain and build four more trails.
  • Prince George Backcountry Recreation Society – Prince George
    Established in 1998, the PGBRS is a not-for-profit society run entirely by volunteers. We support local non-motorized recreation clubs, societies and groups in the central interior of British Columbia. We’re involved in several backcountry recreation-related issues such as access management, cabin management, advocacy and education.
  • Skeena Climbing Society – Terrace
    We’re an active organization looking to increase accessibility to rock climbing in Northwest BC, by hosting drop in climbing and social events, removing barriers to climbing, and building community.
  • Tyee Mountain Trails Society – Smithers
    The TMTS maintains 40 km of trails for public non-motorized use, year round (with exceptions for spring breakup). Activities promoted include: cross country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding.
  • Williams Lake Climbing Association – Williams Lake
    WLCA is a society promoting safe and accessible rock climbing opportunities, community, education, and self-actualization through human-powered outdoor recreation in and around the city of Williams Lake.

Southern Interior – Kootenays

  • Apex Community Association – Penticton
    A non-profit community building group focusing on enriching and enlivening the needs of the Apex residents and visitors alike. We aim to accomplish projects and events that bring people together in the Apex Mountain community.
  • Ascent Mentorships Society – Revelstoke
    We pair female mentors and mentees to create a season-long mentorship for backcountry skiing and snowboarding in Revelstoke, BC.
  • Kamloops Hiking Club – Kamloops

    KHC is a volunteer-driven outdoor club which organizes hiking, snowshoeing, backpacking, and other outdoor events for its members over 12 months of the year. Outings are chosen by volunteer Hike Leaders and posted onto the website.

  • Kamloops Outdoor Club – Kamloops

    The KOC was established in 1936 and has a focus on creating fellowship among individuals with a passion or interest in the outdoors across a broad range of activities and a range of abilities. We are more than just hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, or biking, but also caring, sharing, supporting, encouraging.

  • Kelowna Canoe and Kayak Club – Okanagan

    We are dedicated to all aspects of ocean/fresh water kayaking and canoeing, bringing canoeists and kayakers together to promote safe and fun kayak and canoe activities in the Central Okanagan and beyond.

  • Kootenay Mountaineering Club – Castlegar

    The KMC organizes outdoor activities year round including hiking, climbing, skiing, mountain biking trips, week long climbing/skiing/hiking camps, and various courses on basic outdoor skills. Our volunteers also maintain four cabins in the Bonnington Range and we are involved in trail development and maintenance.

  • Kootenay Wild Mentors – Castlegar

    KWM is a non-profit organization that facilitates one-on-one mentorship across the West Kootenays in the effort to reduce barriers to entry into backcountry activities for marginalized genders, including women, non-binary and gender non-conforming people. Our programming currently consists of summer and winter cohorts that include hiking, climbing, ski touring and split-boarding.

  • Penticton Outdoors Club – Penticton
    Penticton Outdoor Club members enjoy self-propelled outdoor pursuits, generally hiking on Tuesdays (shorter hikes) and Saturdays (longer hikes) from March to November. We occasionally enjoy local cycling and lake kayaking as well.
  • Ribbons of Green Trails Society – Vernon

    The ROGTS is a trail advocacy group working with local governments. We are dedicated to the promotion and construction of walking, hiking and cycling trails, both on and off-road within the Greater Vernon region.

  • Rock On Collective Climbing Association – Okanagan

    ROC is a volunteer-led nonprofit committed to making the Okanagan outdoor community an inclusive space for everyone to explore, grow, and shine as their authentic selves. We facilitate rock climbing mentorship programs and inclusive learning opportunities that foster meaningful connections with one another and the land.

  • Skaha Bluffs Park Watch Society – Okanagan
    Skaha Bluffs Park Watch Society raises money to help protect your car and its valuables when you park at Skaha Bluffs Park.
  • Varsity Outdoors Club Okanagan – Kelowna

    The VOCO Okanagan is a student-led club that strives to promote a fun and inclusive environment to get outside and meet new people. We organize trips, skill-building events, and social gatherings to connect students with the incredible landscapes around us.

Southwest Mainland & Sea to Sky

  • Alpine Club of Canada (Vancouver Section) – Vancouver
    We organize and participate in a variety of activities, from family hikes and easy day trips to more strenuous mountaineering, rock climbing, backcountry skiing, snowshoeing and ice climbing trips.
  • Alpine Club of Canada (Whistler Section) – Whistler
    Our goal is to unite outdoor enthusiasts who share a common interest in non-mechanized mountain activities in the Whistler Area. We organize outdoor activities and programs to improve technical, safety and leadership skills.
  • BIPOC Rocks – Sea to Sky
    We are a BIPOC women-led, volunteer run nonprofit organization working to advance equity in outdoor recreation through low barrier outdoor climbing courses, mentorship, community events, and leadership pathways for BIPOC communities in the Sea to Sky Region.
  • Bowen Island Trail Society – Bowen Island
    We work to build and maintain a well-integrated and interconnected community trail network for non-motorized trail users on Bowen Island.
  • Burnaby Outdoor Club – Burnaby
    We promote care and enjoyment of outdoor environment through year-round hiking, cycling, kayaking,, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing plus social activities.
  • Fridays Hike Club – Metro Vancouver

    Fridays Hike Club is a women and femme-identifying folk’s hiking group that hosts relaxed, social morning hikes designed to make getting outside feel approachable and fun. Each week brings a feel-good trail where members can connect, enjoy nature, and build community at a slower pace.

  • Friends of Garibaldi Park – Squamish
    We support Garibaldi Park through trail building and maintenance work. Our advocacy committee also works on behalf of park users to improve access and ensure the trails and facilities stay in good shape so that everybody can benefit from them.
  • Mountain Mentors – Sea to Sky
    Mountain Mentors facilitates one-on-one mentorship. Each season, we pair mentees and mentors and provide the programming necessary to empower pairs to define their intentions and objectives and to experience growth.
  • North Shore Hikers Society – Metro Vancouver
    We are a volunteer-run club that has been getting Metro Vancouver outdoors since 1958. We lead year-round trips across the North Shore mountains and the connecting trail network. Our activities include hiking, cycling, backpacking, snowshoeing, backcountry skiing, and snow camping. Summer adventures expand to Garibaldi Park and Squamish, including occasional multi-day trips and skills-focused outings for members.
  • North Vancouver Outdoors Club – North Vancouver
    We hike, cycle, snowshoe, ski, urban walks, do overnight backpacking trips, and more. NVOC has been established a good while and has a mix of experienced and new members. We share a love of the outdoors and a desire to explore the outdoors in the friendly, supportive atmosphere that our Club offers.
  • Shore Sirens – North Vancouver
    We are a mountain biking collective dedicated to building a supportive community for women and gender-diverse riders through inclusive group rides and social events. From conquering technical terrain to hosting brewery line-dancing nights, The Sirens focus on fostering confidence, skill-building, and lasting friendships on and off the trails.
  • Vancouver Bouldering Society – Vancouver
    The VBS champions safe, accessible outdoor bouldering by building an inclusive community, hosting fun events, and advocating for responsible access and stewardship across Vancouver’s climbing spaces and locations.
  • Varsity Outdoor Club (University of British Columbia) – Vancouver
    The VOC is a student club at the University of British Columbia. Counting over 1400 members, the VOC is a diverse group, with interest in backcountry skiing, rock climbing, bike touring, mountaineering, hiking, ice climbing, paddling, and much more.

Vancouver Island & Islands

  • Alberni Valley Outdoor Club – Port Alberni
    The AVOC started out as a paddling club in the early 70’s and is dedicated to the enjoyment of and respect for the great outdoors. Club members include a range of ages and abilities – young adults to seniors and novices to experienced mountaineers – but we all share a love of fresh air and exploring the natural beauty our country has to offer.
  • Comox District Mountaineering Club – Comox Valley
    An incorporated outdoor club with 150+ members of all ages, active since 1928, offering a wide range of non-motorized activities for all skill levels, including day hiking and backpacking trips, snowshoeing, trekking, and other non-motorized activities. Trips are primarily based in Strathcona Park and the Comox Valley, with additional destinations across Vancouver Island.
  • Evagorix Wave and Range Club – Cortes Island
    The Wave and Range Outdoor Club is a non-profit member run society dedicated to fostering health, resilience, and community connection through engaging in self-propelled outdoor activities on and around Cortes Island.
  • Island Mountain Ramblers – Nanaimo
    We are a hiking and climbing club based in Nanaimo with members from around Vancouver Island. We were established in 1958 and are proud of our heritage and the number and variety of our activities.

  • Outdoor Club of Victoria – Victoria

    The OCV has been providing adult hiking for over 80 years. We schedule multiple hikes every week, as well as occasional bike rides and multiday outings throughout the year. Our weekly hikes range from easy through moderate to fast-paced and challenging. Hikes and bike rides take place throughout Greater Victoria and Southern Vancouver Island, while our multi-day adventures can be regional, provincial or international.

  • Quadra Island Outdoor Club – Quadra Island
    Founded in 2013, the QIOC hopes to offer a trip every week of the year. The goals are the enjoyment of the out-of-doors, safety consciousness, respect for the environment, promotion of health and fitness, and companionship through outdoor activities. We hike all year, kayak mostly from spring until fall, and snowshoe in the winter. We also have multi-day camping trips.
  • Vancouver Island Trail Association – Victoria
    We are building and maintaining the Vancouver Island Trail (the longest trail route on Vancouver Island at nearly 800km) linking communities on the island from Victoria to Cape Scott.
  • Victoria Club Tread – Victoria
    Founded as a non-profit society in 1987, VCT is one of Victoria’s most active outdoor recreation clubs. Our activities include hiking, backpacking, cycling, camping, skiing/snowshoeing, walking, paddling and more.
  • Victoria Outdoor Club Meetup – Victoria

    We are a sociable group of hikers who enjoy exploring the South Island. We host hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, cycling, paddling, backpacking, and other events at different levels.

Fraser Valley

  • Chilliwack Outdoor Club – Chilliwack
    Our members participate in non-motorized events locally and in the backcountry, with optional training in safety, navigation, bike mechanics, gear, fitness, nutrition, and trail maintenance. Anyone using power tools for trail work must first pass an RSTBC-sanctioned chainsaw course.
  • Fraser Valley Climbing Society – Chilliwack
    The purpose of the society is to protect and assist in managing rock climbing areas in the Fraser Valley. We hope to bring awareness to climbers and others with regards to etiquette and ethics. It is our goal to maintain a high standard of route development and maintenance.
  • Pacific Northwest Outdoor Association – Surrey

    The PNOA is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the safety and quality of outdoor experiences through standardized training, risk assessment, and community-led activities like hiking, watersports, cycling and skiing. Based in the Lower Mainland and serving a diverse membership—with a particular focus on supporting new immigrants —the PNOA fosters a culture of responsible outdoor recreation and environmental stewardship across BC and beyond.

  • Valley Outdoor Association – Surrey

    Our club offers a wide variety of weekend activities (including hiking, cycling, paddling, and snowshoeing) for all fitness and experience levels. There are also two active groups who hike on Wednesdays if you have the time. Destinations are ad hoc and selected on the weekend before the hike.

Sunshine Coast – North Coast

  • qathet Parks and Wilderness Society (qPAWS) (formerly known as Powell River Parks and Wilderness Society) – Powell River

    The Sunshine Coast Trail (SCT) was conceived in 1992 when a handful of outdoor enthusiasts realized the amount of accessible old growth on the Upper Sunshine Coast was vanishing. They formed the Powell River Parks and Wilderness Society (now known as qPAWS), a registered non-profit charitable society, to set aside protected areas linked by forested trail corridors.

  • Tetrahedron Outdoor Club – Gibsons

    We are a volunteer run club that maintains all season trails and four cabins in the Tetrahedron Provincial Park in collaboration with BC Parks. We also organize socials and activity based trips for club members.


Province-wide:
