Member Clubs

Our member clubs represent nearly every region in British Columbia. They act as contact points for local matters and together provide a united voice on issues related to non-motorized backcountry recreation in BC.

Central & Northern Interior

  • Barriere Outdoor Society – Central
    The Barriere Outdoor Society is a well established nonprofit organization in Barriere, BC within the Simpcw First Nations Territory that provides recreational opportunities without prejudice in a welcoming, diverse and inclusive environment.
  • Barriere Trails Society – Central
    Our goal is to build, maintain and promote trails in and around Barriere, BC.
  • Bulkley Backcountry Ski Society – Smithers
    In northwestern BC, the Bulkley Backcountry Ski Society champions safe, sustainable backcountry skiing/snowboarding with trail stewardship, skills training, and land-use advocacy that favours non-motorized access and responsible recreation.
  • Caledonia Ramblers – Prince George
    Based in Prince George, the Caledonia Ramblers lead weekly hikes and winter snowshoe trips, mostly local day outings for all levels, promoting responsible trail use and a healthy respect for nature.
  • Chetwynd Outdoors Society – Chetwynd
    We focus on self-propelled outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, skiing, climbing, paddling, etc.
  • Fraser Headwaters AllianceDunster, Robson Valley
    We promote low-impact recreation by planning, building, and restoring foot trails, while advancing ecosystem health, sustainable communities, and environmental education—including student bursaries.
  • Houston Hikers Society – Houston
    We are a group dedicated to maintaining trails and promoting recreation in the Houston area.
  • Mount Remo Backcountry Society – Terrace

    Our society is dedicated to the advancement and promotion of the non-motorized back country access and activites.

  • Ozalenka Alpine Club – McBride

    The OAC was formed to support and encourage non-motorized outdoor recreation in the Robson Valley, and to build trails and cabins for public enjoyment. The Ozalenka cabin eventually became part of the BC Parks system, and the Eagle Valley cabin is owned by the BC Forest Service. Our trails are owned and maintained by BC Rec Sites and Trails.

  • Prince George Backcountry Recreation Society – Prince George
    Established in 1998, the PGBRS is a not-for-profit society run entirely by volunteers. We support local non-motorized recreation clubs, societies and groups in the central interior of British Columbia. We’re involved in several backcountry recreation-related issues such as access management, cabin management, advocacy and education.
  • Skeena Climbing Society – Terrace

    We help get more people get out climbing in our Skeena region, by hosting drop in climbing and social events, removing barriers to climbing, and building community.

  • Tyee Mountain Trails Society – Smithers
    The TMTS maintains 40 km of trails for public non-motorized use, year round (with exceptions for spring breakup). Activities promoted include: cross country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding.
  • Williams Lake Climbing Association – Williams Lake

    WLCA builds community around all things uphill; we seek to empower our community in learning skills essential for fun and safe human propelled outdoor adventures.

Southern Interior – Kootenays

  • Apex Community Association – Penticton

    We are a community association aimed to bring people together and build and create ideas and projects that benefit residents, guests and environment of the Apex Mountain community.

  • Ascent Mentorships Society – Revelstoke
    Based in Revelstoke, BC, Ascent Mentorships pairs women together into a mentor relationship for backcountry skiing and snowboarding.
  • Kamloops Hiking Club – Kamloops

    We’re a volunteer-driven outdoor club that organizes hiking, snowshoeing, backpacking, and other events for its members – while fostering a love for nature, while promoting physical activity.

  • Kamloops Outdoor Club – Kamloops

    The KOC runs a wide range of outdoor activity trips year round, with a variety of levels that would suit almost everyone. Trips focus in the Thompson Cariboo area, with longer trips into the Rockies and Purcells occurring through the summer months. Our mission is to be more than just hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, or biking, but also caring, sharing, supporting, encouraging.

  • Kelowna Canoe and Kayak Club – Okanagan Valley

    We are dedicated to all aspects of ocean/fresh water kayaking and canoeing, bringing canoeists and kayakers together to share information, to develop and improve paddling skills, and to offer safe recreational trips.

  • Kootenay Mountaineering Club – Castlegar

    Our activities include: hiking, biking, non-motorized boats, climbing, backcountry skiing, hiking camps, annual ski trip at Kokanee cabin in Nelson. All trips recorded, & operated by a board of executives.

  • Kootenay Wild Mentors – Castlegar

    We’re a non-profit organization that facilitates one-on-one mentorship across the West Kootenays in the effort to reduce barriers to entry into backcountry activities for marginalized genders including women, women-identifying individuals, and non-binary and gender non-conforming people.

  • Penticton Outdoors Club – Penticton
    We are a community of seasoned adventurers and somewhat hardcore nature lovers. Our members are keen on hiking, kayaking, cycling and the outdoors in general.
  • Ribbons of Green Trails Society – Vernon

    The ROGTS of Vernon, British Columbia, Canada is a non-profit, trail advocacy group dedicated to the promotion and construction of walking, hiking and cycling trails, both on and off-road within the Greater Vernon region. The purpose of the society is to advocate for a network of public non-motorized trails within the Greater Vernon area and to encourage connectivity with trails in neighbouring communities.

  • Rock On Collective Climbing Association – Penticton

    The ROC facilitates rock climbing mentorship opportunities aimed to foster equity and belonging for people facing systemic barriers in the Okanagan. We also organize community events to promote land stewardship, collective learning, community building, and climbing-specific competency-building.

  • Skaha Bluffs Park Watch – Okanagan
    SBPWS raises money to help protect your car and its valuables when you park at Skaha Bluffs Park.
  • Varsity Outdoors Club Okanagan – Kelowna

    The VOC Okanagan is a student-led community dedicated to making outdoor adventure more accessible, inclusive, and fun for everyone. We organize trips, skill-building events, and social gatherings to connect students with the incredible landscapes around us.

Southwest Mainland & Sea to Sky

  • Alpine Club of Canada (Vancouver Section) – Vancouver

  • Alpine Club of Canada (Whistler Section) – Whistler

  • Bowen Island Trail Society – Bowen Island

    Our focus is on the maintenance of existing trails on the island. We attempt to redirect water to prevent erosion as well as removing encroaching vegetation and deadfall. Each year we provide volunteers to assist with the Handloggers Half Marathon.

  • Burnaby Outdoor Club – Burnaby

    We share many fun outdoor activities, primarily as “day trips” primarily in the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley, and Howe Sound/Whistler areas of southwestern British Columbia.

  • Friends of Garibaldi Park – Squamish

    We are a group of volunteers who support the Garibaldi Park systems with trail work. We also advocate for access, conservation, and policies regarding the park.

  • Mountain Mentors – Sea to Sky

    We are a volunteer-led mentorship program that connects women and gender-diverse individuals with experienced mentors to build community, confidence, and skills in the outdoors. Through one-on-one mentorship, inclusive events, and skill-building opportunities, we aim to create a more supportive and representative outdoor culture.

  • North Shore Hikers Society – Vancouver

    A hiking club that also does cycling and kayaking/canoeing. Our international trips are novel and exciting – and are done in concert with well known guiding companies.

  • North Vancouver Outdoors Club – North Vancouver

    We hike, cycle, snowshoe, ski, urban walks, do overnight backpacking trips, and more. We organize trips on the North Shore, the Squamish and Whistler area, Manning Park and many other areas of BC, and Washington State.

  • Shore Sirens – North Vancouver
    The Shore Sirens is an inclusive and supportive community for women+ and non-binary mountain bikers looking to build skills and connections on and off the trails.
  • Vancouver Bouldering Society – Vancouver
    The VBS champions safe, accessible outdoor bouldering by building an inclusive community, hosting fun events, and advocating for responsible access and stewardship across Vancouver’s climbing spaces and locations.
  • Varsity Outdoor Club (University of British Columbia) – Vancouver

    The VOC UBC is a student run club of the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. We are avid outdoors enthusiasts and enjoy hiking, rock climbing, mountaineering, backcountry skiing, paddling, bike-touring and all self-propelled outdoor adventures.

Vancouver Island & Islands

  • Alberni Valley Outdoor Club – Port Alberni

    Founded in the early ’70s in Port Alberni, AVOC welcomes all ages and abilities for year-round, non-motorized adventures—mostly day trips across the Alberni Valley and Vancouver Island, from easy hikes to tough climbs and winter snowshoeing.

  • Comox District Mountaineering Club – Comox Valley

    Established in 1928, the CDMC organizes day hiking and backpacking trips, snowshoeing, trekking, and other non-motorized activities. We are a paid-member club that strives to offer guided hikes and expeditions. We promote conservation and appropriate use of Parks and wilderness areas, outdoor education and sound leadership skills, and undertake projects such as development, improvement and maintenance of trails and other amenities in partnership with BC Parks and private landholders.

  • Evagorix Wave and Range Club – Cortes Island

    The Wave and Range Club is dedicated to fostering health, resilience, and community connection through engaging in self-propelled outdoor activities on and around Cortes Island. Our mission is to empower residents to explore and appreciate their natural surroundings, promoting healthy lifestyles and community well-being.

  • Island Mountain Ramblers – Nanaimo
    We are a hiking and climbing club based in Nanaimo with members from around Vancouver Island. We were established in 1958 and are proud of our heritage and the number and variety of our activities.

  • Outdoor Club of Victoria – Victoria

    The OCV has been providing adult hiking for over 80 years. We schedule multiple hikes every week and occasional bike rides including multiple-day annual outings. Our weekly hikes range from easy through moderate to fast paced and challenging. Most of the activities are in Greater Victoria and Southern Vancouver Island areas while our multi-day adventures can be elsewhere in Canada or international locations.

  • Quadra Island Outdoor Club – Quadra Island
    Founded in 2013 on Quadra Island, QIOC runs weekly, mostly day trips—hiking year-round, kayaking spring–fall, and snowshoeing in winter—prioritizing safety, environmental respect, health, and camaraderie, with occasional backpacking, basecamps, and kayak-camping.
  • Vancouver Island Trail Association – Victoria
    We are building and maintaining an 800 km trail linking communities on Vancouver Island from Victoria to Cape Scott.
  • Victoria Club Tread – Victoria
    The VCT has been offering day hiking, multi-day backpacking, car camping, as well as some cycling and kayaking events on the South Island, and beyond, for over 30 years. In the winter months, we also have snowshoeing and skiing opportunities.
  • Victoria Outdoor Club Meetup – Victoria

    VOCM is a sociable outdoors group and we welcome new members – and hosts – to join us. Our main activity is hiking, but also offer other events, such as mountain biking and paddling.

Fraser Valley

  • Bear Mountain Trail Society – Chilliwack

    We reside on a 10 km hiking trail, and we’re working on a proposal that will connect Harrison Hot Springs with Agassiz via the foot of Bear Mountain and Green Mountain, pending approval by various authorities.

  • Chilliwack Outdoor Club – Chilliwack
    Our members enjoy non-motorized adventures locally and in the backcountry, with optional training in safety, navigation, bike mechanics, gear, fitness, nutrition, and trail maintenance; anyone using power tools for trail work must first pass an RSTBC-sanctioned chainsaw course.
  • Fraser Valley Climbing Society – Chilliwack

    The purpose of the society is to protect and assist in managing rock climbing areas in the Fraser Valley. We hope to bring awareness to climbers and others with regards to etiquette and ethics. It is our goal to maintain a high standard of route development and maintenance.

  • Pacific Northwest Outdoor Association – Surrey

    PNOA is dedicated to improve safety and quality of outdoor experiences by providing practical and valuable resources through technologies and field activities.

  • Valley Outdoor Association – Surrey

    We’re a club of 200+ members located in the Lower Mainland. We host a variety of outdoor activities including hiking, cycling, kayaking, and snowshoeing. Plus social events throughout the year. We have three summer camps (up to 5 days/camp) each year: hiking, cycling and kayaking.

Sunshine Coast – North Coast

  • qPAWS (formerly Powell River Parks and Wilderness Society) – Powell River

    The Sunshine Coast Trail (SCT) was conceived in 1992 when a handful of outdoor enthusiasts realized the amount of accessible old growth on the Upper Sunshine Coast was vanishing. They formed the Powell River Parks and Wilderness Society (now known as qPAWS), a registered non-profit charitable society, to set aside protected areas linked by forested trail corridors.

  • Tetrahedron Outdoor Club – Gibsons

    The TOC is an all year round club who maintains Tetrahedron Provincial Park’s four cabins and trails in collaboration with BC Parks. Outside of this, the club holds socials once a month during the winter.
