The 400 meter boardwalk will enable access to the Ancient Forest for visitors in wheelchairs and others with mobility or mental challenges – as well all others who wish to use the boardwalk.

Various agencies in Prince George with clients who will benefit from the access the boardwalk will provide are: Prince George Brain Injured Group, AiMHi Community Living Association, B.C. Paraplegic Association and Canadian Mental Health Association.

The project is expected to take 3 years to complete with an estimated 4000 volunteer hours from the Ramblers. So far this year 414 hours has gone into completing 40 meters of the Uniwalk and work will continue until snow calls a halt.

With an estimated cost of material at $40,000 – this year has seen $17,345 awarded in grants to the Ramblers toward these materials with every indication that funds sufficient to complete the project will be available.

Donations of materials this year total $7,150; these grants and donated materials combined with $1800 donated by visitors to Ancient Forest Trail totals $26,295 in contributions.
