With the Canadian Military occupying (and closing to the public) the Slesse Creek Valley, the traditional descent off Mt. Slesse is no longer available. Perhaps this is for the best, as the descent was marred with problems, including leaving one at a road some 25km from the car. In July 2010, volunteers with a CASBC Adopt-a-Crag created/improved a trail from the memorial cairn to the alpine below Crossover Pass below Mt. Slesse. Along with being an excellent day hike in itself, this trail provides a direct descent off Slesse back to the car park.
