A recent heavy rain event on the North Shore resulted in a section of the BCMC trail being washed away. The trail is located beside the Grouse Grind in Grouse Mountain Regional Park. Jay MacArthur, the FMCBC Trails Committee Chair has discussed the issue with a Metro Vancouver park manager. Metro Vancouver are currently having a geotechnical assessment done of the creek to determine the best future route for the trail. You can use the Grind on the weekend (until the winter closure) or the Larson trail to bypass the blocked damaged area.
The FMCBC may organize a rock moving party to clear out the creek bed on the adjacent tributary of McKay Creek beside the trail. If the creek bed isn’t cleaned out, then future high rain events could continue to wash away the trail and permanently re-route the creek.

Metro Vancouver have started to fix the trail in March 2022.
